There are many opinions on Tim Burton. He has his fans and those who can’t stand his work. Either way, he has made a wonderful impact on the directing world. Producing something different and unexpected makes his movies wonderful. Laura Boyles of The Independent Weekly agreed when she wrote, “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street has a brilliant cast and ravishing production design. It also boasts copious bloodletting, courtesy of a neatly matched set of sterling silver straight razors (foil discourse I couldn’t watch) and a lip smackingly ghoulish sense of humor.” On the other hand, Tricia Olszewski of the Washington City Paper argued, “The pairing of the murder-and-meat pies Broadway hit and Hollywood’s go-to Goths seems natural, but a few picky pallids may find cannibalism a bit distasteful when accompanied by a tune.” Not everyone agrees that he is amazing. J’Mel R. Davidson of Birmingham Weekly boasted, “Batman Forever is a garish piece of trash that makes Big Momma’s House II look like the Godfather II, and then Batman and Robin came along and treated one of my childhood heroes like Jodie Foster in The Accused.” Of course, he has people that don’t like anything he does.
