The attacks on 9/11 affected the security in our airports but also on our nations borders. The DHS (department of homeland security) recently devoted over 12 billion dollars to increase our border security. This may sound like a lot of money but with how large our borders are and how poorly the government seems to spend their money it isn't nearly as much it may seem. America is having enough trouble with illegal immigrants just coming over for jobs, now we have to stop the immigrants and people wanting to commit acts of terrorism. That is quite a task and unfortunately one I think is going to be very hard to stop without a major change in our policies. |

With the U.S government having to search for threats in the air and on the ground it is understandable that they are not going to be able to be completely successful. It is just to much area to cover even for and entire government but there are many steps that can be taken to further protect American citizens. Hopefully the government can find a way to balance security with convenience for the civilians but if I had to choose I would take safety over convenience and I believe the government is doing the best they can given the difficult circumstances. |
