On January 12, 2010 a massive magnitude earthquake struck Haiti, the Western Hemisphere’s poverty-stricken country. Haiti has a seventy percent unemployment rate and eighty percent of the population lives in a poverty state of allowing no hope of improvement or relied. The result of the earthquake left the country with a huge amount of its homes, commercial buildings, and significant landmark buildings damaged or destroyed. The earthquake fell upon the most populated area of the country, near the capital Port-au-Prince, leaving an estimate of three million people affected, as many as one million Haitians homeless, over two hundred and fifty million wounded, and an approximation of more than one hundred and seventy thousand citizens deceased as well as visitors and tourists. People were trapped under extremely heavy debris with no strength and lacking essentials such as food and water.
