One of the biggest actions we as single mothers and as woman can do is to stop having unprotected sex with men unless we are in a stable marriage with them. All women who are able to conceive children would be involved in the action plan. Young girls need to understand the facts about how hard it is to raise a child on your own, and that guys make promises everyday and break them. In high school instead of teaching just parenting classes, give them an eye opener about how much it cost to raise a child and with only a high school education you cannot make the kind of money you would need to raise a child on your own.  I know the high schools already teach sex education and teach how to practice safe sex, but looking at the stats of teenage pregnancy those programs or classes are not working. We need to make some serious improvements in our sex education programs, so that we can get these young people to see the light and protect their selves and their futures.

To begin with preventing pregnancies can’t be just left up to the girls. We need to have some serious sex education classes for the boys too and they need to get a very clear understanding of fatherhood. The program should also give them a clear idea of the cost of raising a child, and how being a father will affect their social life. Maybe if guys could see how having to pay child support will affect their lives maybe guys will realize that
