Another way to control your diabetes is to eat healthy. The only problem with this is what is eating healthy? It means different things to different people. Some would say stop eating fried foods; others might say watch your complex carbohydrates. While both are good things it is not that simple. Studies have shown that it is the carbohydrates in the meal that plays the major role in blood sugar. But you should know the glycemic index (GI) number and not worry about if it is a simple or complex carbohydrate (Coombe). The GI is a measure of how fast the food turns to sugar in the bloodstream. Eating foods with lower GI numbers will leave you feeling fuller longer and increase your metabolic rate. So you burn more calories fast and don’t eat as much.
